Music

The McGraw Project, Teddy McGraw, and covers

I photographed music for ten years and wrote about it for Mixmag, and I play bass in the McGraw Project, a family band with my father David McGraw and my brothers Teddy and Scotty.

This page runs through what got published, the record we made, the concert posters, and the covers I make for other people.

Photographing music

A double page opener at the front of Mixmag's January 2016 issue ran my photograph of Disclosure at Madison Square Garden, and Mixmag published my ARC Music Festival feature in 2022 and my Coachella feature in 2023, both of which I wrote and shot. I photographed numerous Ed Banger Records events, shot DJ Dodger Stadium at MoMA PS1, and photographed inside Output while the club banned photography.

McGraw Project

I play bass in the band and I designed the record. The cover comps set the system for the release, then three singles, then the album, Imaginary Rain, recorded in Studio 2 at Abbey Road. The artwork runs as mixed media, paint over my own photography, with the 2024 Adirondack total solar eclipse in the photograph under it and the floor of Studio 2 as the herringbone border. Have a listen to the album, linked under this.

Posters

The Berlin Under A series ran one show on Avenue A through four states, each one borrowing the apparatus of an institution with no business announcing a rock show: German bureaucratic fine print, sixteenth century natural history, a journal cover on annotated CT scans, and a psychedelic outlier. Each state allows one color on an achromatic field.

Wake

Wake announced the closeout party for the Photo Index office on August 27, 2026. I modeled the office in Blender and lit it, then set the type into the room, one poster per room.

Teddy McGraw

Teddy McGraw works as an artist of his own and I design his posters and his covers, his album cover and the cover for his single In My Bones among them.

By The Hounds

By The Hounds, a record label, commissioned one poster for the premiere of the record 000 at Home Sweet Home on August 20, 2026, and I drew it once and ran it in six colorways.

Covers

I make covers for other people alongside the sound work. Scotty's forthcoming EP sits here beside Teddy's, and Kitchen Fire took two.
